BAWASLU RI Training on Accessible Election

BAWASLU RI Training, Bogor, West Java, 2017-11-21

 

The Election Supervisory Board of Indonesia (Badan Pengawas Pemilu Republik Indonesia/Bawaslu RI) inaugurated the newly appointed Provincial Commissioners from 25 provinces (out of 34). On 21 September 2017, AGENDA Program Manager provided training to the new Commissioners on Understanding Disabilities and Accessible Election. It is one of the AGENDA’s objective to ensure that the election organizers have knowledge on disability and accessible election in order to improve access to election for persons with disabilities. AGENDA Media Training in Mataram, NTB

AGENDA conducted Media Training on Media Guidelines on Reporting Accessible Election attended by 26 media representatives from print, online and broadcast media (25 men and 1 woman) and 10 representatives from disabled people organization (DPO) in Mataram, NTB on August 24, 2017. The training materials were understanding disability, accessible election and its implementation in NTB, media and disability as well as reporting accessible election. Chairperson of Provincial KPU of NTB gave presentation on accessible election in the 2018 regional head election. AGENDA EMB Assessment Tool Workshops in July 2017

On July 20, 21 and 27, General Election Network for Disability Access (AGENDA) in collaboration with local provincial of General Election Commission (KPU)s organized Election Management Body (EMB) Assessment Tool in Surabaya (East Java), Semarang (Central Java) and Palembang (South Sumatera) respectively. Each workshop discussed about understanding disability, accessible election and gathering inputs and follow up actions on EMB Assessment Tool that has been endorsed by the KPU-RI in mid-2016 I order to support accessible election of regional head elections in those 3 provinces. In Surabaya 91 people participated in the workshop (78 men and 13 women), in Semarang 83 0eople participated in the workshop (66 men and 17 women) while in Palembang 53 people participated in the workshop (39 men and 14 women). AGENDA EMB Assessment Tools Workshop in Mataram, NTB

AGENDA in collaboration with Provincial General Election Commission (KPU) of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) organized Election Management Body (EMB) Assessment Tools Workshop attended by 34 people (26 men and 8 women) in Mataram, NTB on August 23, 2017. Topics discussed at the workshop were understanding disability, accessible election and reviewing EMB Assessment Tools that has been endorsed by the KPU-RI in mid-2016 to support accessible election of regional head election in June 2018.Thank you for the support of the Australian .Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).

AGENDA Media Traning in July 2017

On July 19, 22 and 28 AGENDA organized Media Training on Media Guidelines on Reporting Accessible Election in Surabaya, Semarang and Palembang respectively. Each training discussed topics on understanding disability, accessible election and its implementation in each province, media and disability as well as reporting accessible election. In Surabaya, 21 media representatives from print, online and broadcast media participated in the training (18 men and 3 women) and 9 disabled people organization (DPO) representatives participated in the training (7 men and 2 women). Choirul Anam, Commissioner of Provincial KPU of East Java gave presentation on accessible election in East Java regional head elections. In Semarang, 20 media representatives from print, online and broadcast media participated in the training (16 men and 4 women) and 10 DPO representatives participated in the training (8 men and 2 women). Diana Ariyanti, Commissioner of Provincial KPU of Central Java gave presentation on accessible election in Central Java regional head elections.  In Palembang, 21 media representatives from print, online and broadcast media participated in the training (15 men and 6 women) and 7 DPO representatives participated in the training (2 men and 5 women). H. Aspahani, Commissioner of Provincial South Sumatera gave presentation on accessible election in East Java regional head elections.
